St. Anthony students explore Texas history

Members of the local chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas exhibited their Pioneer Life Trunk to Ms. Kelsey Bohuslav’s 4th grade class at Saint Anthony Catholic School. Kathleen Townzen and Donna Pustejovsky from the Dilue Rose Harris chapter presented various replica items from the mid-1800s. These ‘artifacts’ would be used in everyday life, such as maps and currency, household items and toys and games. As each item was presented, students were able to handle, experiment, and enjoy. The class was excited to participate and afterward enjoyed afternoon snacks.

One goal of the DRT is to spark an appreciation and interest in Texas History with such activities, as well as art and essay contests. If you are interested in membership, visit www.drtinfo.org or contact Marilyn Wade ([email protected]).
