Local closings for New Year's



With the New Year's holiday comes the closing or shortened hours of several local businesses and offices.

  • Columbus and Eagle Lake city offices, along with Colorado County offices will close New Year's Day, Jan. 1.

  • Weimar city offices will close Monday, Dec. 31 and New Year's Day, Jan. 1.

  • The First State Bank and Columbus State Bank will close on Tuesday, Jan. 1.

  • First National Bank will close on Monday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m. and remain closed all day on New Year's Day, Jan. 1.

  • Wal-Mart will be closed New Year's Eve, Dec. 31 after 6 p.m. and reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 1.

  • H-E-B will be open all day Monday, Dec. 31 and Tuesday, Jan. 1

  • Brookshire Brothers will close Tuesday, Jan. 1.

  • All county offices of the Post Office will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1. There will be no mail pickup or delivery that day.

  • Columbus Television and Quality Electronics will close New Year's Day, Jan. 1.

  • Potter's Western Store will close Tuesday, Jan. 1.

  • Garbage pickup scheduled for Tuesday through Friday by Texas Disposal Systems Inc. will be picked up a day later. The same schedule will apply for the New Year's holiday.

  • The Colorado County Citizen will close at noon on Monday, Dec. 31 and all day Tuesday, Jan. 1. Deadline for advertising in the Jan. 2 issue will be Thursday at 12 noon. Deadline for news submissions will be 9 a.m. Thursday.
