Columbus Little League action begins Saturday
The 2008 Columbus Little League Opening Ceremonies will take place Saturday, April 5 at the park located off of Montezuma Street beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Columbus Little League President Rusty Theut said a 4-wheeler will be raffled this year with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the field improvement project, which includes new lighting.
"It is a Kawasaki 360 2-wheel drive with trailer," Theut said. "It's donated to the little league by Gerald and Debbie Harwell."
Tickets will be available at the Columbus State Bank, Boots, Saddles & More and the ballpark concession stands.
The 4-wheeler will be raffled at the final regular season game.
"This is the second raffle item donated by the Harwells," Theut said. "Last year they donated a custom built barbecue pit and trailer."
Theut said there will be 32 teams announced during the ceremonies.
The first games of the new little league season will take place later that day.
