Spectators at the 2008 Columbus Live Oak Festival were in for a wild ride with one of this year’s attractions.

Andrew and Sonny Nuding of Cypress presented a sports bike demo show twice Saturday afternoon off of Milam Street during the festival.

The two men, known as the Cypress Stunters, presented an attraction comprised of stunts such as “circle wheelies”, “high chairs”, “flamingos” and “burn outs” that they have been performing in shows in a sport known as street bike stunt riding, all over the Houston area.

They brought their stunt show to the festival because a friend of theirs, Travis Barton, who works at Deep South Customs and Super Lube Plus in Columbus, wanted to bring some new excitement to the annual event.

“We wanted to bring something new and exciting to the Live Oak Festival,” Barton said. “It was something people around here haven’t seen before.”

A captivated crowd gave the two performers cheers and applause during the 12:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. shows.

Sonny Nuding said what drives him to the sport is the thrill of performing the stunts and getting the crowd pumped up.

“You never know what is going to happen,” Sonny said.

Andrew Nuding said they wanted to put it out there in front of the Columbus crowd to show them how innovative the sport can be.

He also said there even was a stunt riding show in Reliant Stadium in Houston recently.

“The sport really is picking up,” Andrew said.

When asked if they would come out to Columbus in the future to give another show, they said they would be happy to return next year.
