Thanksgiving is a time for football

By Jarrett Karstadt, Sports Corner

Friday night, Nov. 21, the San Antonio Spurs won their game against the Utah Jazz.

The score was 119-94. It was an awesome game with not much first quarter action but then Utah scored.

Spurs answered with Tim Duncan dunking away, seven rebounds and 18 points scored by the end. But sorry Duncan, Roger Mason beat you with four rebounds and 29 points. Mason was red hot firing off those 3-pointers. Rookie George Hill scored a career high of 23 points giving the Spurs their win. Spurs are 6-6 and the Jazz only 8-5.

NBA ranking shows that the Rockets are in first place in their division with 9-5. Second place is New Orleans, 7-5 and Spurs are in third place.

The Dallas Mavericks are right behind them with 6-7. The Rockets need to lose to the Miami Heat. They likely will because the Heat beat the Spurs and they were really good. I am waiting for the Rockets to spiral down so the Spurs can move up. I am also watching the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Division winning 13-2. They are still on top. In my opinion the Spurs will still come out on top.

Sunday afternoon the Dallas Cowboys pounded the San Francisco 49ers for a win. They held them down in the first quarter until the field goal, which they missed. Defense on both sides was working hard. By half time Dallas had pushed ahead 25-9. Martellus Bennett made one touchdown, thrown by Tony Romo. Romo did some good passing with 341 yards and 3 touchdowns. The other great TD was made by Terrell Owens running 75 yards. He could have run 100 yards. I was so excited for him.

Poor Shaun Hill was sacked by four, count them, Cowboys: Ken Hamlin, DeMarkus Ware, Anthony Spencer and Grey Ellis cleaning up the ground. It was an awesome, exciting game.

I am looking forward to the Thanksgiving Day game of Dallas Cowboys/Seattle Seahawks. Seahawks’ record is not too good, 2-10 and they lost to the Washington Redskins 20-17. I predict that Dallas is ready to pound Seattle and make the wild card play off. The final score should be 37-10 at Texas Stadium.

While you are eating turkey I’ll be watching the Titans vs. Lions, Cowboys vs. Seahawks and Eagles vs. Cardinals’ games with my cousins. That’s what Thanksgiving is all about.
