The Columbus Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring “Junk in the Park” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 9 at Beason’s Park, which will be a fun sales event for anyone wanting to sell garage sale items, new merchandise or antiques.
Vendor spaces are available for $25 and plenty of space will be provided on a “first-come, first-serve” basis, so people can bring tables, tents, trucks or trailers to sell from.
Kim Dyer of the Chamber says that they are looking for a variety of vendors, although food items will not be allowed. The Chamber is going to provide a small concession stand.
The event is going to be promoted all over the south Texas region with advertising, and the Chamber is hoping that promotion they are doing at Round Top and Warrenton the week prior to the sale will bring in more out-of-town buyers, as well as some interesting vendors.
The Chamber is selling T-shirts for $10 with a special “Junk in the Park” logo, featuring a picture that was hand-drawn by Doreen Vail with design assistance by Cindy Parkhurst. Dyer says that she hopes that people will wear the shirts around town beforehand to help promote the event locally.
