The Navidad Valley CattleWomen will hold the third annual Best Little Style Show in Texas on Saturday, Oct. 17. All of the profits from this event will fund scholarships to be awarded to youth in Fayette, Lavaca and Colorado counties who intend to study agriculture in college. The event will be held at the Rockin' W sales facility, a big blue barn, just north of Schulenburg on Highway 77. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. when hors d'oeuvres, drinks and desserts will be served. Shopping will be available with booths from Angels and Outlaws, Julia's, Navidad Trading, Rhinestone Angel, The Silver Barn, The Velvet Frog and more. The style show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Clothes will be featured from Cottage Gatherings, The Hitching Post, Missy T's, Molly's Melange, The Mustard Seed and The Velvet Frog. Tickets will be available at the door, though pre-sale is preferred. Tickets are available at Angels and Outlaws in La Grange, The Silver Barn in Columbus and The Hitching Post in Schulenburg. St. Anthony Church in Columbus will host its fall festival on Sunday, Oct. 11 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 703 Columbus. A barbecue beef and sausage meal will be available for $8 for adults or $4 for children under 12. Take-home plates will be sold from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dine-in serving will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, a kolache breakfast will be available, as well as homemade Mexican food, barbecue on a bun sandwiches and sausage wraps. The event will feature a raffle, a silent auction from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a country auction at 1 p.m. In addition, the event will also offer bingo, a cake walk, a country store, a grocery walk, a plant walk, a penny draw, a fish pond, a cookie monster and a ring toss. Old time music will be performed by Donnie Wavra and The Hi-Liters from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Outdoor musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Darren Kunz, who will perform a variety of types of music. St. Anthony cookbooks will also be sold for $20 at the event, and guests may visit the church’s religious articles store. The festival will also include Father Dan’s annual cake bake.
