Read moreAfter their initial site visit Jan. 17, the A&M students of Landscape Design and City Planning returned to Columbus to exchange ideas, receive guidance and offer suggestions aimed at revitalizing our major thoroughfares - Hwy 71, from 1-10 to the north river bridge, and Hwy 90 from 71 to Beason’s Park. They, and their professors, met with over 30 local business owners, City administrators and Chamber executives to gather feedback, discuss key issues/problems and come up with design priorities for improvement. It was a dynamic and productive session and, after one more meeting in March, the students and professors will make a final visit to Columbus Apr. 28 to present their proposals to the community in a Town Hall event open to the public. More information on this meeting will be announced in April.

Read moreThree teams of Sacred Heart High School students competed in the annual Knowledge Bowl in Victoria.The Knowledge Bowl is presented by the Victoria Adult Literacy Council and the Rotary Clubs of Victoria, proceeds benefit the Victoria Adult Literacy Council.. The event consists of three rounds of forty questions each covering a variety of topics, in three divisions: adult, college, and high school. In the high school division (pictured), the team of Jodi McAfee, John Cesm, Trey Ridgeway, and Brett Sestak placed second. Jodi and Brett are St. Michael alumni and Weimar residents.

Recently DCP Midstream has implemented a program to donate to organizations that meet certain criteria that are located in the geographical area of our facilities. This program is run by the Community Connections Committee (CCC). Chris Henke, Principal Engineer, and Dawn Jansky, Sr. Administrative Assistant, made the presentation of $1,000 to the Turtle Wing Foundation. Turtle Wing Foundation’s mission is “helping children with learning challenges in rural areas achieve their full potential.” They have been providing Early Intervention, Supplemental Services and Community Education & Advocacy programming to children and families with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs since 2012 in Fayette, Colorado, Lavaca and surrounding counties. Annually, over 325 children are receiving direct services with thousands more benefiting indirectly through education and advocacy work.
