During the Thursday, Feb. 29 meeting of the Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club, member, Rev. Margarita Arroyo welcomed guest speaker, Bret Cappleman, owner of the new Apple Ace Lumber at 200 Glen Flora Road in Eagle Lake. Cappleman invited the Lions and the community to visit the store for their Grand Opening celebration on March 1 and March 2. The nursery specializes in fine herbs, perennials and native plants that are sold in farmer’s markets. Janet Johnson, President of the garden club, says “the program will be about heat-loving plants for Central Texas and will be a power point presentation that will include handouts and allow time for attendees to ask questions.”
