Read moreThe Bluebonnet Master Gardeners recently resumed their annual summer camp after a two-year pause due to COVID concerns. Area youth ages 10 to 13 were invited to learn about many gardening related topics in a handson and fun approach over three mornings at the Columbus Texas AgriL ife office June 14 - 16. On Tuesday, Steve Sheek instructed the campers in Soils and Planting issues. On Wednesday, Mark Dannemiller immersed the class in Water Conservation and stream flow lessons with the aid of Texas A&M’s Stream Trailer. On Thursday, Cathy Dannemiller led the class on Insect discussions culminated with the very popular Bug Racers, in which the crickets are in the driver’s seat and directing which way the vehicles would travel. Each day the campers were treated to garden themed treats prepared by the kitchen and nutrition team led by Ruth Zabransky.
