An explosion and fire injured one person and destroyed a church in Fayette County last week. Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on June 9 at approximately 6:27 a.m. Fayette County Dispatchers received a 911 call reporting an explosion at the Queen of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn.

They will learn about the operation of local government from townships to the state level. They will live on the University of Texas campus, along with approximately 1,000 other students from across the state of Texas, from Sunday to Friday, and may have the opportunity to visit the Capitol if the legislature is in session. Claiming Father’s Day as a great day to prepare beef, Cattle-Women kick off summer as a tasty grilling season. All area sixth grade students were invited to participate in an essay contest celebrating Dads and Father figures. This year was unique in that, due to no contest being held last year, seventh graders were invited as well. The topic was: What makes my Dad or Father figure so great and why he should be awarded a beef gift certificate”.

Members brought bright, yellow sunflowers and an assortment of zinnias and chrysanthemums. Flowers were purchased from Cuts of Color in Borden, and members also picked up bundles of flowers wherever they traveled.
