Garfield of SBA’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West. These loans offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by drought in the following primary counties that began May 10.
Read morePrayer vigils were held last week in Columbus and Eagle Lake following the mass shooting that occurred Tuesday, May 24 at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. At least 19 children and two teachers were shot and killed when an 18-year-old gunman opened fire at the school. The alleged gunman, Salvador Ramos, is dead. Columbus Pastor Dan Pore said, “Our community came out in unity and prayer during The Uvalde Prayer Vigil at the Colorado County courthouse in Columbus. Read moreTwice a year, the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild makes a day of putting their skills, time and creativity together to form beautiful lap quilts. These quilts are then donated to nursing homes in Columbus, La Grange, Weimar, Flatonia and Schulenburg. Most of the fabric is donated to the Guild throughout the year. In 2021, 110 lap quilts were donated and the Guild anticipates exceeding that number this year with over 122 quilts.
