Read moreOn the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 28 around 8:30 p.m., the Eagle Lake area suffered an engulfing fire at the historic I.V. Duncan Ranch which destroyed the historic home. The lovely white wooden house nestled in a grouping of trees was likely struck by lightning, according to Fire Chief Darryl Stancik. “Our trucks and those of nearby towns gathered to help extinguish the flames, but it appeared to be a total loss.” The 1910 home will be missed by all who have known it through generations, while driving from Eagle Lake to Wharton or Garwood on Fm 102.
