Read moreColorado County Emergency Medical Services EMT Allen Ainsworth’s brothers and sisters in uniform from the county and other surrounding counties brought his remains to Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus last Wednesday in a poignant, four-mile long procession from Houston. Allen had been an EMT with Colorado County EMS for almost two years. CCEMS Director Michael Furrh said Allen had almost finished all of his paramedic requirements at the time of his death. On Apr. 15, Allen was working on the CCEMS ambulance in Eagle Lake when he suffered a medical emergency. Allen went into cardiac arrest, and his coworkers worked frantically on him, regaining a pulse. Allen was flown to St. Luke’s by PHI, the emergency flight service in Colorado County. Unfortunately, Allen passed away early Wednesday morning. A Go Fund Me account has been set up for Allen’s family. The Allen Ainsworth medical and funeral costs account can be found on gofundme.com. Allen was cremated, and due to coronavirus precautions, a full first responder service for Allen is pending. “Allen fell ill and later passed away doing what he loved, serving others as a first responder,” CCEMS Director Michael Furrh said of his late coworker. Emotional support has been made available for Allen’s coworkers during this difficult time.
