Citizen photo Michelle Valles, Hanson Aggregates Arena Plant Manager in Garwood, donated $1,000 Wednesday, Mar. 4 to be used for the Newspaper in Education (NIE) program. Nora Rollins, General Manager of the Colorado County Citizen, accepted the donation on behalf of The Citizen. The Colorado County Citizen is a proud participant in the NIE program, an exciting interactive program that engages students in learning by providing teachers access to The Citizen for use in their classroom. The NIE program is designed to make reading newspapers a fun and beneficial learning experience, and thanks to donations like the one from Hanson, teachers throughout the county will continue to receive The Citizen newspaper for their classrooms.

The beautiful home of Denise Marburger, 622 Melody Lane was built in 1960 for the A.F. Wiese Family. Denise has returned to her family home. Many of the beautiful Azaleas were her mother’s favorites. The colorful Azaleas line the front and side of the home and beautiful Oak Trees shade the front yard. Be sure to drive through Eagle Lake and enjoy the Azaleas that are in full bloom.
