Sheridan Little League hosted their first Barbecue Cook-off Friday and Saturday. A total of 17 cook-off teams participated. Friday night was beef fajitas, and Saturday was chicken, ribs, brisket, and barbecue sauce categories. The event made $4,507 for the Sheridan Little League organization. Courtesy

Read moreThe Columbus Lions Club will host its annual White Cane Day Saturday, Oct. 17. Lion Gary Chandler is the Chairman of this year’s event, which has been scaled down to a one-day event. Globally October is Vision Awareness month. White Cane Days are days set aside in October where Lions Club members across the country go out into their communities to increase awareness of the white cane safety laws and raise money for the blind and visually impaired.

With all of the “crazy” happening on this planet, one thing has stayed constant and that is that the kids who Turtle Wing provide services for and the families and educators they support need them more than ever. After much prayer and investigation, Turtle Wing has decided to have their 2020 Monster Dash. Their Safety Plan was approved, with the main difference being that they will not have a Kid Zone. Additionally, they are not charging for any of the activities. This is meant to be a fun, family event and everyone is welcome! The 8th Annual Monster Dash will be n Saturday, Oct. 17 from 5 – 7 p.m.
