Hound Song Brewing Co. in Columbus has pieces of equipment coming in, getting Columbus closer to having a brewery. Owners Travis and Raven Kocurek said the equipment delivered last Monday was the “hot” side of the brewing operation, manufactured by Rocky Mountain Vessels in Montrose, CO. This includes the mash tun, boil kettle, hot liquor tank and cold liquor tank. All of this equipment is used to make “wort” (pronounced “wert”), which is the liquid before the yeast is added. “We are awaiting the delivery of our cellaring equipment in August, which is comprised of fermentors and serving tanks. Once this equipment is installed, we are ready to start making beer,” the Kocureks said. Hound Song is located in the historic Harbert’s Garage. Hound Song’s neighbors, the staff at AL&M across the street, donated their forklift and driver to off load the 10,000 plus pounds of equipment. “The AL&M crew has expressed their willingness to help constantly and we could not be more thankful,” Raven noted.
