Read moreSet against a backdrop of dark skies and a near full moon, the Fourth of July Fireworks Show at the Colorado County Fairgrounds in Columbus was a dazzling sight. This year’s fireworks did not disappoint the revelers who came out to view bright, magnificently colorful lights along with the whistles and bangs that had many of the children jumping and laughing. The Red, White and Blue theme was woven throughout the fireworks display that seemed brighter than the accompanying moon. Those in attendance practiced social distancing throughout the fairgrounds complex. The fairgrounds were full, and passing cars along Highway 77 pulled over to admire the fireworks. Columbus Chamber of Commerce, the Colorado County Fair Association, H-E-B and Cavender Auto Country sponsored the event.
