The Weimar Wildcats have had a sense of urgency all season in pounding the ground game and imposing their will with physical play on both sides. They got to see what it’s like to play against a team with a similar level of physicality when they took the road to face off against the Snook Bluejays. Weimar took a lead early in the game and had a chance to make a comeback bid in the final frame to try to take the win. However, Weimar couldn’t find enough offense at the end to recover from their earlier mistakes as they fell in a 20-13 defensive struggle.

Read moreThe Rice Raiders responded from their most difficult offensive performance of the season to deliver their most adept the following week. Rice suffered a shutout loss at the hands of the Columbus Cardinals before hitting the road to face the Palacios Sharks. By the time the Raiders returned home, they had come away with their season’s best outing offensively and their first close-game victory since a win against Goliad in 2020 after taking a 37-27 win over Palacios in Week 4.

They carried their strong play over from the last week, sweeping both of their opponents in Vs Hallettsville, W, 3-0 Columbus is looking to find the same level of dominating play they had last season during district play. If they can continue performances like their outing against Hallettsville, they’ll be well on their way to securing another district title. The Lady Cards came out swinging against the Lady Brahmas and never let their foot off the gas pedal on the way to a sweep. Columbus ran out to 25-13 win in the first game of the match to quickly take the advantage. Hallettsville returned the effort by reaching the 20-point mark in the second set. However, 20 is as close as the Lady Brahmas would get as the Lady Cards took game two 25-20. Columbus tightened the screws in the final set, holding Hallettsville to just six points in a blowout, match-clinching victory.

Brown led the Cards to all their top three highest scoring totals, two of which came in that 1941 season with a 72-0 win over Gonzales and an 80-0 win over Flatonia. The Cards hadn’t crossed the 70-point threshold for over eighty years since that 1941 season, not until last week’s game against the North Forest Bulldogs. The Cards dominated on the way to their biggest shutout victory of the century so far and their highest point total since their early days.
