The Weimar volleyball team had an unfortunate outing during their Friday, Sept. 2 matchup against Fayetteville. Weimar lost in a sweep defeat, but they gave themselves a chance to win in each of their sets as the Ladycats fell just short in each of their opportunities. Weimar struggled against an attack that featured a Lady Lion that picked up over 30 kills in the match as both teams had highly effective offenses.

The Cards hosted the Giddings Buffaloes for the first game of the season and delivered a thorough beating of their opening-day opponent in their 42-7 victory.
Read moreThe Columbus varsity volleyball team traveled to Foster High School late last week to compete in the Battle of the Brazos tournament that featured appearances from bigger 5A and 6A schools. The Lady Cards got some great performances not only as a team on that stage, but individually as well. Sage Thomas and Ember Mandola claimed All-Tournament honors, while Ally Tribe finished as the tournament MVP. Those individuals were a big factor in the team finishing the tournament as undefeated champions.

The improvement showed during their tournament as they picked up a few more wins than their last tournament outing. Not only did they increase their win total, but they also claimed the Copper bracket championship with two wins in a row.
