Read moreThe Weimar Hormigas have battled through a lot of different things this season, and Mother Nature added just a few more elements for Weimar to struggle with. The Hormigas had their whole weekend rained out, denying their opportunity for potentially adding more wins to their record. Weimar still managed to pick up two wins on their way to a 2-3 record this week.
Read moreThe Weimar Vets hosted the New Ulm Fireman on Sunday for their first home game of the season. Dominate pitching, excellent defense, and timely hitting produced a 12-1 seven inning run rule victory. Reichardt started the game with strong innings with two strike outs; allowing no runs. Sam Brown then took the mound and threw two innings; striking out three; allowing only one hit and no runs. Tyler Kolek shut the fireman down; striking out for the last two innings. Leading the offensive were Dayton Milner-2 singles, 2 runs scored, RBI; Kolek-Triple, 3 RBI, run scored; Clay Barton-single, RBI, 3 runs scored; Brown-double, RBI, run scored, Alex Angerstein-double, RBI, Run-scored, Ty Boedecker-single, RBI, run scored; Carter Helmcamp=single, run scored, 2HBP, Jeff Osburn-run scored, 2 HBP; Cody Barrett-2 BB, run scored. Michael Koeth handled the courtesy running duties. Defense standouts-Angerstein, Milner, Osburn, Boedeker. Jagger Fishbeck filled in at first base. Trey Daniels finished the catching duties gunning down a runner in the seventh. Another go crown came to back the Vets. Columbus had some great games as many of the teams won their championships and advanced on to the next round.
