COLUMBUS — The Columbus Cardinals celebrated their homecoming the right way with a big blowout victory over the Hargrave Falcons as they secured their fifth win of the season by a 42-14 margin.

The Lady Raiders have already surpassed their record from last season and are on the hunt to finish with a higher district placement than their last place finish a season ago. After picking up their first district victory last week, they have taken a major step towards reaching their goal. Just a few matches into the district season, the Lady Raiders find themselves tied for fifth place and ahead of winless Tidehaven and Hallettsville.

Read moreCORPUS CHRISTI – The Rice cross-country team took on one of their largest competitions of the season after a long trip to the south on Sept. 16 as the team nears the district meet. With well over 300 varsity runners for the boys and over 200 varsity runners for the girls, Rice had plenty of competition as they took on one of their toughest challenges this season. Despite the increased number of runners from several divisions, Rice still had many runners perform well.
Read moreThe Columbus Junior High Lady Cardinals played Tidehaven at home on Monday, Sept. 11. The seventh grade B-Team tied with Tidehaven after losing set one 17-25 and winning set two 25-21. The eighth grade B-Team won both sets, first with a 25-11 win and then by a 25-4 margin. The seventh grade A-Team team won two straight by 25-16 and 25-6. The eighth grade A-Team took down Tidehaven 25-16 in set one and then 25-22 in set two.
