The Shiner Comanches came just one win away from the perfect season and the fifth state title in school history. Unfortunately for Shiner, they came two runs short of achieving that dream season, losing in a tight match against the Valley Mills Eagles by a 2-4 margin. Despite the loss, Shiner had many things to be happy about this season including the play of their freshman fielder, Keenan Hailey.
Read moreThe Weimar Vets picked up their first win of the season, ruling the ULM Firemen on Sunday 15-5 in eight innings. After scoring one run in the third, the Vets’ bats heated up and scored six runs in fourth. New ULM closed the gap two runs in the fifth making the score 7-3 in favor of the Vets. The Vets scored eight in the seventh and eighth to put the game away. Josh Morgan picked up the win going five innings allowing four hits and striking out eight.

However they got as close as they could without an appearance in the championship game after facing off against the Crawford Lady Pirates in the state semifinal game on the final day of May. The Ladycats had just one more hurdle to reach the promised land for a chance to win the 2A division softball state championship. Unfortunately for Weimar, the lone run in the game was provided by their counterparts, sending the Ladycats to a 1-0 defeat and ending their long playoff run.
