The Weimar varsity softball team had a great opportunity to finish the past week as the lone holders of the top spot in the district. The ladycats needed a win against Ganado as the victor of that matchup would claim first place in the district standings. After a defensive battle with high-grade pitching, the ladycats eventually fell with a low scoring final result. The second place ladycats then went on to Moulton for a big blowout victory in the end-of -the-week game.
Read moreThe varsity Wildcat baseball team took on district rival Ganado in a high scoring matchup that featured 20 combined hits from both teams. The Wildcats had a strong beginning to the game, scoring all of their runs in the first four innings. However, Weimar could not find a way to slow down Ganado’s potent hitting in the final three innings, succumbing to an 11-7 defeat.

The athletes in the top four spots for each event qualified for the Area meet , and several Wildcats advanced through to that stage.

With some strong performances for both schools, there were several Colorado County competitors who qualified for the district finals. There were also many athletes who secured top finishes in events that will not be included in the finals, automatically qualifying for the Area meet.

Virtual learning sessions replaced days spent in the classroom, and many extracurricular activities were canceled in an attempt to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Parents tried to find activities that kids could enjoy while still adhering to social distancing guidelines, and that led many moms and dads to consider golf.
