The Columbus varsity softball team began their playoff run on April 28 against the Lytle Lady Pirates. The Lady Cards took an 8-2 win in Game 1, with Game 2 tonight at 8 pm. If necessary, Game 3 will be held Saturday, April 30.

They finished in second place as a team to secure their spot in the upcoming state meet for a shot at the state title. The regional meet spanned two days, with the final total for each team determining their final placement. The Lady Cards finished with a team score of 798, one of the only teams with a score under 800.

Despite being able to put up a good number of runs, the Rice defense struggled to deal with Tidehavens potent hitting as the Lady Raiders eventually dropped their finale by a 14-4 margin.

Not only did they get some good hitting over two close games, but they also turned one of their hits into a walkoff win against a fellow district opponent to split their games and finish with a 1-1 record in the week.
