The Rice varsity girls’ soccer team got a pretty solid defensive effort in its Jan. 28 loss to Hempstead. The Lady Raiders held their opponent to one goal, but unfortunately could not respond on the offensive end, falling to Bobcats 0-1.

Read moreKnights from Council No. 2971 (Columbus) and Council No. 10249 (Mentz) hosted the annual council level competition of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw series on Jan. 29 at the SAS gymnasium. Participants ages nine - 14 each had 15 consecutive free throws from their respective foul line. The champions of the event will move on to the district round of competition in February. After taking first place in the last two meets, Rice claimed yet another top placement on Jan. 26 to claim their third win in a row. Columbus showed major improvement from their previous performances, as they gained three first place finishes each from their girls’ and boys’ teams.
