Read moreThere was no holding back when the Cardinals scrimmaged against El Campo on Friday, August 13, 2021. Offensively, the Cardinals looked and acted like a united team with a strong line. Play was executed and the back line did their job. The Center and Quarterback pairing appeared to work well together. The back field performed well and performed their routes with practiced experience. The Cards made several key plays with one resulting in a touchdown. Defensively, the Cards looked strong and held their own against the opposing team. Blocks and tackles were picked up. Although El Campo scored a touchdown, the defense reacted to the El Campo offense with confidence and, on a number of occasions, kept the offense in check. Overall, the Cardinals look solid and are a team to be reckoned with on the gridiron.

Read moreThe Boys and Girls Club of America supports youth development by providing young people with the knowledge, skills, and encouragement they need to achieve their dreams and succeed in life. On Thursday, July 29, 2021, several employees from Industry State Bank visited the Columbus Boys and Girls Club, which serves youth, ages 6 through 18, during the summer and after school. In order to assist the Boys and Girls Club in their endeavors, the employees presented a financial education program, which included information about banking, types of money, saving-spending-giving, wants versus needs, and differences between checks, debit cards, and credit cards. The goal of the presentation was to help children gain knowledge about banking and money, en courage them to get an early start on saving, and to give them a jumpstart on building solid habits for the future. After the presentation, students also received sunglasses and enjoyed a lunch of hamburgers, chips, and water, all sponsored by the bank and made by the Columbus Lions Club. Around 50 youth were in attendance that day and received benefits from the presentation.

Coaches put their squads through their first drills to shape and sharpen the student-athlete’s bodies. The Varsity will scrimmage against Jordan in Columbus on Friday, August 13, at 7:00 p.m. The Junior Varsity will kick off against Jordan in Columbus on Friday, August 13, at 5:30 p.m.
