Read moreThe All-Stars Junior softball team from Columbus battled their way on the field and won the right to wave the banner of victory. The 2021 Texas East District 13 Junior Division Championship banner was hoisted by the team when they defeated Hempstead 12-2 on Wednesday, June 23. The Columbus team kept their opponent in check throughout the game and came away as the winners. The Division Championship team consists of Taylor Morrow, Abigail Fisher, Ella Berger, Ellie Kate Brown, Abby Wiggs, Sophia Wolters, Mia Post, Izzy Rodriguez, Dulce Penalozza, Sydnie Shephard, Molly Garcia, Jillian Miksch, and KJ Foster. Read moreThe All Stars from Columbus played in the Major Division 13 Little League Softball group on Friday, June 25 in Hempstead. Grimes County, their opponent, played hard and strong against its opponents leading up to the championship game. Columbus wasn’t impressed but remained steady as they put up the points on the scoreboard. In the end, Columbus took an 18-1 victory over Grimes and clinched the District 13 Major Division Championship. This 2021 All Star team consisted of Alexis Kulhanek, Kyndal Kuhn, Mary Fitzgerald, Hannah Gross, Katlyn Torres, Ashlyn Carter, Lanie Orsak, Gabby Warschak, Aggie Rodriguez, Ilylah King, Madi Adams, Manager Jarrod Rodriguez, and Coach Russel Warschak. The Columbus Majors team steps into Sectionals and will play July 5 in Schulenburg.
Read moreIn the lead up to the All-Stars Championship games, the Columbus team defeated Weimar 16-0. McKenna Eden pitched a no-hitter. Not to break a streak, Berkley Anderson pitched a no-hitter against Twin Cities and a score of 11-0. Thus, they stood undefeated entering into the game for the championship title. On Wednesday, June 23, that game came in Columbus against a formidable opponent, Twin Cities. Although Columbus beat Twin Cities in a previous match-up, Twin Cities had a habit of putting points on the board and getting to the same spot as the Columbus team. However, it didn’t take long for Twin Cities to find out that they were no match for Columbus. In five innings, Columbus dispatched Twin cities with a win of 12-2. This was the first championship win for this Columbus team.

The Columbus team swam against La Grange. On Saturday, June 21st the Columbus CATfish Swim Team (CST) traveled to Camp Lonestar in LaGrange to compete in their last dual swim meet of the season. Read moreAccording to the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA), the association selects 28 All- Stars from conference 1-2-3A and 28 All-Stars from conference 4-5A. These athletes are selected by the TGCA Softball Committee, which is composed of softball member coaches of the association, at their annual meeting. Selections are made from nominations submitted by member coaches. Athletes must be Juniors to be selected.
