Read moreWEIMAR – The Weimar varsity volleyball team has done everything they can to prepare themselves for the upcoming district season after playing through some difficult matches in the tournament and non-district portion of the schedule. After coming out with a positive record, Weimar enters district play with the hopes of taking the top spot after gaining valuable experience throughout the first half of their season. They got their final tune-up for district after taking a three-game sweep against Fayetteville in a match that had its tight moments, but for the most part was dominated by the Ladycats.

Read moreWEIMAR – The Wildcats have officially surpassed their 3-7 record from last season just four games into the current season. Each of the four wins for Weimar have been in dominating fashion as they controlled the trenches on both sides of the ball; getting after the quarterback defensively and making huge holes for their running backs on offense. That trend continued against Snook as they hosted the Bluejays for their homecoming game. The Wildcats stuck to the gameplan as they reached the 50-point threshold for the third time this season in a 51-20 victory.

The rushing attack has been a big emphasis as lead running back Ty’Vone Whitehead uses his speed to impact the game and break away for huge gains. Whitehead had yet another huge performance in the Cards’ most recent game against North Forest as Columbus picked up their first shut out in a 48-0 victory over the Bulldogs.

The no. 4 ranked team on the TGCA poll has yet to concede a single set so far in three matches, first winning in three-straight sets against rival Rice before sweep victories against Hallettsville on the road on Sept. 12 and Edna at home on Sept. 15.
Read moreALTAIR – The Rice Raiders varsity football team felt like their offense was much better than their lone score performance against the no. 2 ranked Columbus Cardinals for their first loss of the season. They got their chance to prove it as their offense returned along with plenty of former Raiders for Homecoming on Sept. 15 against Palacios. Rice found their biggest scoring performance of the season, breaking the 50-point margin for the first time and finished the game with a 56-7 victory.
