The varsity cheerleaders for Weimar High School got an early start to their season after getting their summer training camps started in preparation for the upcoming season. The Wildcat cheerleaders began their camp on June 5 as they worked on routines, skills and techniques that they will be using throughout an intense varsity cheerleading season. They finished their camp on June 7 after a few days of training and preparation. After the completion of the summer training camp, the Wildcat cheerleaders will begin their preparation for the competitive season and for performances for the sports team.

The legacy of Weimar softball looks to continue its strong history after its recent state championship win by passing the skills and knowledge down to their young future stars. The youth softball players benefitted from the guidance of legendary Weimar coach, Roger Maupin, as well as valuable staff member Amanda Machicek. The players also got some extra help from varsity pitcher Reagan Wick who made major contributions to this season’s state championship run. The next generations of Ladycats will be looking to wean as much knowledge and guidance as possible to keep their impressive run going.

Read moreThe summer 7 on 7 season is in full swing as the Weimar Wildcats competed in the Rice-hosted state qualifying tournament for a chance to move on to the state championship tournament later in the month. The Wildcats competed, but they generally had struggles scoring the football during their games as they never truly threatened to take the lead or overcome deficits in any of the three games they played during the pool stage. After completing pool play without a single win, the Wildcats left the tournament still hoping they can turn things around for their next shot at a qualification.

The Cards could not take advantage of their first opportunity to potentially secure their spot at State despite winning two of their games in pool play.
