The Ladycats’ varsity basketball team had an uncharacteristically rough prior week compared to what they have done for the rest of the season. Weimar has had a potent combo of offense and defense all season, and those factors combined once again to lead the Ladycats into highly competitive matchups. However, Weimar did not secure a win last week after falling in two close games as they dropped to their first losing streak of the season with two in a row.

Read moreThe Rice Lady Raiders’ varsity basketball team got their second win of the season in convincing fashion after holding a wire-to-wire lead over their first opponent of the week. They had what might have been their best defensive performance in that game, and they also found success attacking the basket offensively. Unfortunately, none of the things they were successful at in their first game carried over into their second game of the week as they had one of their worst losses of the season so far.

Their most recent additions to the streak were in dominating fashion as they beat both of last week’s opponents by double digits. They nearly finished both games with the exact same final score line as they swept the week to get their eighth and ninth wins of the season.
Read moreThe Rice Raiders basketball team had a back-and-forth week with a lot of big swings and varying levels of play for the Raiders. For some of the games, Rice was able to put their strengths together and claimed a few victories during a weekending tournament in Flatonia. For others, the Raiders struggled to get the same amount of offensive and defensive firepower in a few difficult losses as well. The Raiders went 3-2 at the tournament, and Robert Bennett and Dyren Johnson were named to the All-Tournament team for their play.
