The Fall semester portion of the basketball season is coming to an end as the Lady Cards have found success in the early season. While they have not reached the lofty marks they set last season when they played an entire regular season without taking a single loss. Despite having a few games in the loss column this season, they seem to be just as dominant as they were last season with many blowouts and strong performances.

The Lady Cards controlled the game from the opening tip and forced their opponents into some difficult shots as they went on to take a double- digit, 47-33 victory to wrap up the midway point of the season.
Read moreThe Columbus Cardinals have gotten out to a much-improved start this season compared to their last season’s opening run. Through the first 14 games last season, the Cards had an 8-6 record before going on to win all but two of their district games to end the season strong. This year, the Cards stand at 10-4 through 14 games and are hoping they can finish this year with the same energy they did in 2021-22. They seem to be in a solid position to do so as their improved start is in direct correlation with the improvement the team has made across the board amongst their returning players.

Compared to last season, this year’s team plays much faster and puts a lot of pressure on opposing defenses with their handle and attacking. While the Raiders are still searching for some consistency on the defensive end, they have still made major improvements on that end which has led to the team to better overall results. MaxPreps.com reports the Raiders record at 4-6, already beating the mark they had in all of last season.

Read moreThe Weimar Ladycats’ varsity basketball team could not wait to get into the holiday weekend as the county as a whole teemed with the excitement that comes this time of year. Unfortunately for Bloomington Lady Cats, they stood right in the way of a freight train coming home for Christmas. Weimar held serve on their home court as they delivered their biggest win of the season in a dominating, 63-18 victory.

The Ladycats of Weimar have an interesting assessment period ahead of them after their start to this season. They have gotten to a strong start with a quality record through the non-district portion of the season. However, they have had somewhat of a shaky start to the district portion of the season. Despite the impressive 10-3 overall record, they entered into the Christmas weekend with a 1-2 district record that they are hoping to recover from as they enter the spring semester portion of their season.
