Defensive shooting in Eagle Lake leaves one injured

On August 5th, 2023 at approximately 6 p.m., the Eagle Lake Police Department and the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office responded to J & K’s Corner in Eagle Lake in reference to a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, all of the involved parties remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. It was determined that an incident had escalated into a shooting subsequent to an assault with a motor vehicle that originated from a verbal argument.

The victim had been shot in a non-vital body part, and the shooter has alleged the incident was self-defense due to the assault with a motor vehicle. The victim (50) who was shot is from Bellville and the individual identified as the shooter (60) is from Alleyton.
