Community Garden Guild chooses yard of the month

The Community Garden Guild of Eagle Lake has awarded the home of Dr. John and Laura Myres, 401 N Walnut St. as Yard of the Month for the months of March and April 2024.

To solve the problem of trying to mow a long narrow strip of grass between a sidewalk and the street, John seeded the strip with wildflower seeds in the Fall. His ingenuity was rewarded starting in March, when hundreds of wildflowers began to bloom. Bluebonnets, larkspur, poppies, primrose, Indian blankets, coneflower, coreopsis, just to name a few, began to put on a show that lasted through April.

The Community Garden Guild is proud to recognize the Myres’ home as Yard of the Month for Spring.
