Stanzel Memorial Scholarship Names first recipients

The inaugural recipients of the Wanda Johnson Beaudry Stanzel Memorial Scholarship have been officially announced. This scholarship, established by Ted Stanzel in partnership with the Stanzel Family Foundation, commemorates the legacy of Wanda Johnson Beaudry Stanzel, who passed away in 2021.

This year, the Wanda Johnson Beaudry Stanzel Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to outstanding graduates from Schulenburg High School: Ri lee Sanchez, Nicolas Lopez, Annelyse Gal ipp, Haylie Goode, Riley Zapalac, and Rodney Walton Jr., along with Natalie Osina from Sacred Heart Catholic High School. These individuals have been selected as recipients of a $3,000 scholarship.

Wanda loved life and lived it fully. She was adept at reinventing her life and her career. After graduating as a dental hygienist with the second class of the UT Health School of Dentistry at The University of Texas at Austin in 1958, Wanda worked as a dental hygienist in the Houston area. Later, she excelled as a real estate sales associate in the Houston market. Wanda was a life-member of the Texas Exes and volunteered with a number of organizations including the Lady Washington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Houston Yacht Club and Blue Bird Circle that supports pediatric neurology.
