Are you interested in being a part of this conversation? One of the issues to discuss is ways to address housing. Reports from some local realtors are that affordable housing is being swallowed up by those who have moved to Colorado County, but commute to the Houston area for jobs with higher paying positions than the lower income levels more prevalent in the rural regions.
This quickly out maneuvers locals’ ability to acquire housing opportunities, which has resulted in a continual struggle keeping teachers, medical staff, and other mid-level workers. This brings up another point to discuss: what directly affects local employers’ ability to pay higher wages?
