Friends of the Weimar Public Library will host researcher and author Charles Hebert on Friday, Oct. 25 at 9:00 a.m. at the United Church Fellowship Hall in Weimar.
Hebert’s knowledge of the period 1790-1836 is recounted through stories and memorabilia most likely not heard or seen before and is offered by the Friends group as a way of providing an interesting perspective of the time and the period for Weimar’s newest group of 7th graders in Texas history classes.
The stories related by Hebert are based on extensive research of the diaries of Santa Anna, Sam Houston, and those involved in the Runaway Scrape. The presentation not only chronicles the events of a tumultuous time in our state’s history, but also captivates the audience with displays of authentic and unusual pieces Hebert has collected from the era. The pieces never fail to get “oohs” and “ahs” from audience members.
