Everyone is invited to a memorable author talk and book signing for Live Oaks and Dead Folks – Tales and Images from the Nesbitt Memorial Library Cemetery Tour, on Thursday, Nov. 7, with sessions at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Nesbitt Memorial Library.

Written by Tracey Wegenhoft, with archival support from library director Susan Chandler and historical insights from James C. Kearney, this book captures the rich spirit and legacy of our community. Through stories that span Colorado County’s past, it brings to life fascinating tales through the “voices” of its remarkable characters, brought to life with rare details from the Nesbitt Memorial Library archives.

For 20 years, the Nesbitt Memorial Library Foundation has hosted a nostalgic cemetery tour, with dedicated actors and guides bringing the historic figures of Colorado County to life in an unforgettable experience. Now, these stories are on the page, with fresh insights that include some never-before-seen photographs from the library’s archives, turning history into an experience you can hold in your hands.

Expect to be immersed in tales as rich and varied as Colorado County itself—stories of heroes and villains, pioneers and visionaries, filled with moments that will make you laugh, gasp, or shake your head in amazement. From the bold exploits of adventurers to the quiet courage of everyday people, each page captures a piece of Colorado County’s vibrant soul.

Don’t miss the chance to meet the creators and dive into the behind-the-scenes journey of bringing these past characters to life. All proceeds from the sale of this book will go directly to Nesbitt Memorial Library Foundation. Whether you’re a history buff or just looking for a good story, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
