The Weimar Ladycats took on their district rival Schulenburg and blew them out in their first meeting this season.
The Ladycats defeated Schulenburg 19-0 on Tuesday night and despite the big win the offense did not hit their stride until the fourth inning.
The Ladycats started the game on offense, and they made the most of their opportunity and opened the scoring. The Ladycats scored one run in the first then scored two runs in both the second and third inning to extend their lead to 5-0 going into the fourth inning.
In the fourth and fifth inning the Ladycats scored seven runs in each and ended the game with a score of 19-0.
The Ladycats offense came to play against their district rivals and had multiple betters hit multiple base hits. Claire Pavlu, Faith Cantwell, Sam Rangel, Ty’ Rianna Rhodes and Taylor Smith all hit doubles during the game for the Ladycats.
Pavlu, Cantwell and Zariah Sims also recorded two RBIs each which led the Ladycats for the game.
In Smith’s case though, she was just getting started.
Smith hit a triple and a home run to help boost her team to a victory, she was undoubtedly impactful on the offensive side of the ball and was just as impactful on defense. Smith pitched all five innings for the Ladycats where she only walked three batters while striking out 11 batters.
The defense behind Smith had a solid game as well which is obvious because they recorded a shutout. They were dialed into the game from the opening pitch though and made very little mistakes making it easier to keep Schulenburg off the scoreboard.
The Ladycats now look ahead to their next tournament in San Marcos that took place over the weekend, March 6 through 7.

Tate Griffin currently has a .429 batting average this season for the Ladycats.
