The Rice Lady Raiders have picked up their first win in 40 games, it took a while, but the Lady Raiders are back in the win column.
They played a threegame stretch where they took on Luling, Episcopal and Hallettsville and the Lady Raiders picked up their first win during those games.

It took 40 games, but the Lady Raiders finally won a softball game. Those 40 games were mentally taxing on the players on the team so to see their hard work payoff is rewarding to the players, fans and coaches.
This game started with both teams scoring one run in the first inning of the game. Luling then captured the lead in the bottom of the second inning but the Lady Raiders locked down the field after that.
The Lady Raiders responded by scoring five runs int eh top of the third inning to give them a 6-2 lead with one inning left to play. The Lady Raiders handled their business and walked away with their first win in a long time.
Kimberly Aquino hit the only double in the game while Ava Torres took care of business in the circle.
The win was nice for the Lady Raiders but there were still two more games to play.
Vs. Episcopal, L, 9-0
The Lady Raiders offense struggled in this game as they only recorded one hit during the game. Defensively it was even more of a struggle for the Lady Raiders, and they found themselves down 9-0 after the first two innings.
The Pitchers for the Lady Raiders walked 10 batters during the game. That allowed Episcopal to score nine runs on four hits on their way to a victory.
While this loss stung, in their next game the Lady Raiders lost by double the number of runs.
Vs. Hallettsville, L, 18-0
This game was just as frustrating for the Lady Raiders offense and defense. There were a ton of mistakes that cost the Lady Raiders in this game and Hallettsville is a quality ball club that will take advantage of those mistakes every time.
While the two losses sting the Lady Raiders will have their head up high after picking up their first win in the last two seasons.
They will look to win their second game when they take on Yoakum on Friday, March 7, and Tidehaven on March 10.
