Wildcats and Ladycats split games

The Weimar Wildcats and Ladycats matched up against Schulenburg and Ganado and both teams split their games with one win and one loss each.

It was funny how it all shook too because the Ladycats defeated Schulenburg and lost to Ganado while the wildcats lost to Schulenburg and defeated Ganado.

Ladycats Starting with the softball team they welcomed their district rival onto their home field and defeated them 15-0.

The Ladycats needed only three innings to win the game which included a 10-run inning. Tate Griffin hit two doubles while her teammates Sam Rangel and Zariah Sims each hit one double.

Taylor Smith was in the circle, and she pitched all three innings and walked only two batters while striking out eight of them while giving up zero runs on zero hits.

In their game against Ganado the Ladycats had the lead then lost it in the later innings and could not get back into the game. They started the game by jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

With a 4-0 lead the game went scoreless up until Ganado scored their first run of the game. With the score now at 4-1 the Ladycats extended their lead by one run to leave the score at 5-1 in the middle of the fifth inning.

The bottom of the fifth and sixth inning saw Ganado score two and three runs respectively and took the lead back, 6-5. That would lead the game to its final score and sent the Ladycats home with a loss.

Wildcats The Weimar Wildcats started their games against Schulenburg as well but unfortunately on the losing side of things. The Wildcats lost this game 16-4 and they gave up eight runs in the second inning that ultimately sealed their fate.

It was a rough game, but some good things did happen like Camden Morrison hitting a triple and Huxton Kloesel hitting a double.

In their second game though, the Wildcats had a much better showing against Ganado and like the Ladycats game this game also ended with a score of 6-5. The game started tied at 1-1 and then Ganado took the first lead of the game in the third inning after they scored two runs to the Wildcats one.

With the score at 3-2 Ganado added two more runs to their lead to make the score 5-2 going into the sixth inning. In the sixth inning the Wildcats scored three runs to tie the game up and in the top of the seventh they scored the game winning run.

A single from Kloesel and then walks for Camden Morrison, Ty Rerich and Brandon Luckey and the Wildcats had the lead.

The Wildcats were able to hang on to the lead for the win and they were able to enjoy the bus ride home from Ganado.

The Ladycats and Wildcats will be back in action on Thursday, April 17, when they take on Bloomington.
