In less than a month, the Weimar City Council have filled the previously vacant position of city manager, having hired a new prospect at a special meeting held Monday afternoon, April 21.
Donald Dixson was appointed as the new city manager after former city manager Richard Whitten put in a resignation request just a year into the job following the city’s inability to negotiate a new contract with him.
A special session was held on March 24 following Whitten’s resignation, naming David Mason as the interim city manager until the city were able to find a proper replacement.
The city deemed Dixson as that replacement that Monday at 12 p.m., almost immediately filling the void left by Whitten after being voted in unanimously by council members.
“Donald is our new city manager, and we just want to say welcome aboard,” said Mayor Milton Koeller.
Weimar’s hunt for a new Weimar Police Department Chief continues following the resignation of former WPD Chief Mark Jameson, who tendered his resignation around the same time frame that Whitten did.
The next Weimar regular city council meeting will take place on Thursday, May 8.
