Wildcats struggle in last two games

The Weimar Wildcats have been struggling recently and have dropped back-to-back district games.

This dip in production comes at an inopportune time as the season is ending and teams want to be playing their best ball right now ahead of the playoffs.

Vs. Shiner, L, 5-1

This loss is not as bad considering they game the top team in the district a close game despite what the score says. Shiner is the first-place team in the district with an 8-1 record, on top of that, they always give the Wildcats a tough game so needless to say this was an uphill fight for the Wildcats.

The first two innings of the game were scoreless, which was unsurprising because neither team wanted to cough up an early lead to their district rival.

Shiner finally broke through in the top of the third inning by scoring one run and another run would not be scored until the 6th inning. Shiner scored once more in the sixth, but the Wildcats quickly responded to keep it a one run game.

Unfortunately, in the seventh the wheels fell off for the Wildcats and Shiner scored three runs to make it a 5-1 game and the Wildcats could not complete the comeback.

@ Flatonia, L, 8-0

Things did not get any easier for the Wildcats in their second game as they were shut out by the Flatonia Bulldogs.

Now a shut out this late int he seasons might be cause for concern for some. But the good news is there is still time to get back on track.

There are highs and lows in any season and the Wildcats know that. They also know how much they have improved since last season and know that their luck will turn eventually.

They have developed good, winning habits that have benefitted them all season long and they are going to lean on those habits as the season winds down and playoffs start.
