Congratulations JR. Ambassador 2025

It’s scholarship season, and the Columbus Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce our 2025 scholarship recipient, and our new JR. Ambassador is Amiah Guthrie.

We received eight outstanding applications. Each applicant was required to submit three 250-word minimum essays discussing the history of chambers of commerce, their thoughts on the role a chamber should play in their community, and their perspective on the importance of small businesses in the local economy.

A review team carefully evaluated each application and conducted interviews with every applicant. We truly enjoyed meeting these impressive young individuals and hearing their ideas and ambitions. It was a difficult decision, as each candidate demonstrated excellence throughout the process.

Guthrie, who will be a junior at Columbus High School this fall, stood out with her academic achievements, community involvement, and inspiring goals. She plans to study neuroscience at the University of Texas at Austin.

Throughout high school, she has been actively involved in the Science Club, Cheer, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), and has served as a Library Aide. She also volunteers in nursing homes, with youth cheerleaders, and in other youth sports programs. As a peer tutor, she is passionate about helping “everyone shine in their most authentic selves.”

Her commitment to both academic and community growth continues with her planned involvement in Yearbook, National Honor Society (NHS), and Future Farmers of America (FFA) because she values “community- based activities and academic advancement.”

She is determined to graduate in the top 10 percent of the Columbus High School Class of 2027 and to earn a 4.5 GPA.

These are ambitious and admirable goals, and we have every confidence that she will achieve them. We are thrilled to support her on this journey and look forward to seeing all she will accomplish in the years ahead.

Congratulations, Amiah.
