The Weimar Wildcats and Ladycats traveled to Texas A&M Kingsville to compete in the Regional Track Meet.
It was a very successful out for Weimar’s track team as several players set personal best and one athlete was crowned the Regional Champion.
The Regional Champion for Weimar was crowned in the pole vault event, and it was none other than Katharina Chaloupka. Chaloupka set a personal best with a jump of 12’0” to win the Regional Championship and earn a spot in the State Championship.
Chaloupka’s jump of 12 feet is impressive in its own right, but she also jumped nearly two feet higher 2nd place. Chaloupka also ran in the 100m dash for the Ladycats and came in 4th place in the preliminary race with a time of 12.48 to qualify for the finals.
In the preliminary race Chaloupka was joined by her teammate Zarish Sims who came in 13th place with a time of 13.24 seconds, which was a new personal record. In the finals Chaloupka came in 6th place with a time of 12.64 seconds.
In the 200m Addisyn Olive ran for the Ladycats and she came in 10th place in the race with a time of 27.40 seconds. Olive set a new personal record with that time and was back on the track for the 400m race and in the preliminary heat she set another personal record in with a time of one minute and one second to come in 4th place and qualify for the final race.
In the finals of the 400m she finished 37 milliseconds slower than her prelim time but came in 3rd place in the finals.
In the 800m Tate Griffin came in 15th place with a time of two minutes and 48 seconds which was a personal best. In the 300m hurdles Faith Cantwell also set a personal record of 52.72 seconds to come in 11th place.

Courtesy photo sonal record. In the high and triple jump Olive was back in action and she jumped a height of 5’0” in the high jump and a height of 32’10” in the triple jump, both were personal records.
As for the boys Zach Norrell ran in the 110m hurdles preliminary race and came in 13th place with a time of 17.91 seconds. In the high jump, Samuel Hernandez set a new personal best with a jump of 5’10” to come in 5th place.
In the pole vault, Troy Cantwell and Caleb Treece competed and came in 9th and 10th place respectively. Cantwell cleared a height of 10’0” and Treece cleared a height of 9’6”, both were new personal records. In the shot-put Koda Pantillon came in 16th place with a throw of 39’0” to set a new personal record.
Chaloupka will be the lone Ladycat to compete in the State Meet in Austin next week and she will be trying her best to bring some hardware back to Weimar.
