Congratulations to the SAS 8th graders for receiving the Diocese of Victoria Bishop’s Award. Sofia Espinosa, Emily Fuller, Colette Harrell, Joshua Newman, Parker Pilat, Emmanuel Rangel, Reese Sunderman and McKinley Wright earned the award by knowing 10 prayers, scoring at least an 85% on the Diocesan Test of Christian Doctrine, completing at least 15 hours of service, and leading their school in character and spirituality.

The SAS A Soccer team tied with St. Rose today last Wednesday while the B team fought hard but came up short against St. Michael last Thursday. Tennis is in full swing, with SAS hosting its first meet last Tuesday, welcoming CJHS-Riverside and St. Michael.

Saints bringing home awards were Charley Mc-Bride/Keaton Watkins (1st place girls’ doubles), Jace Tribe/Cormac Barten (1st place boys’ doubles), Bella Lowe (2nd place girls’ singles), Abby Fuller (3rd place girls’ singles), and John Neal/Kyle Glueck (3rd place boys’ doubles).

On Wednesday, April 30, SAS 1st graders travel to The Meadows Center in San Marcos to learn about the Spring Lake ecosystem and enjoy a glass-bottom boat tour. On Thursday, May 1, the 5th graders will head to La Grange’s Czech Heritage Center to discover the history, language and culture of Czech Texans.

Speaking of culture, last Monday, SAS 6th graders hosted their annual “Inter-national Feast”, presenting foods and facts from various countries. Guests sampled foreign flavors from countries such as Iran, Australia, England and Kenya.

Many Catholics honor Mary throughout the month of May. On Thursday, May 1, SAS will hold a May Crowning prayer service. Students will bring fresh flowers to place around the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary along with a beautiful floral crown to place on her head, honoring her as the Queen of Heaven.

Tomorrow evening SAS will host “Innovation Night” from 5-6:30pm in the gym. The community is invited to come experience various science and technology projects presented by SAS Junior High students.
