Two Lady Cards get end of season honors

The Columbus Lady Cardinals had two players selected for some end of the season honors.

One was selected to the All-Region team and the other was selected to play in the All-Star game later this summer.

The player selected to the All-Region team was Anaya Gardner who plays guard for the Lady Cardinals. Fans of the Lady Cards know just how good Gardner is, she has great ball-handling skills, a great jump shot and the size and skill to work inside the paint if needed.

She is an asset to this Columbus Lady Cards team and she is being recognized for her hard work. It has been a great year on the basketball court for Gardner as she attended NBA Legend, Chris Paul’s basketball camp last summer and is now capping things off by being selected to the All-Region team.

The Lady Card that will be playing in the All-Star game later this summer is Thea Schobel. She was a dominant paint presence for the Lady Cards, snatching up countless rebounds to get her team going back down the court or to get some second chance points.

Schobel was also really good at shooting the basketball from mid-range, not quite as deep as a three-pointer but not quite so close that it is a layup. About 5-10 feet away from the basket Schobel was an excellent shooter and will get to show off her talent at Arlington Lamar High school on Tuesday, July 15, in Arlington, TX.
