Three Weimar Golfers selected to Academic All-State team

The Weimar golf team concluded their season after the UIL State Golf Tournament that was held on Monday and Tuesday last week.

With the conclusion of their season comes Academic All-State honors for the athletes that got it done on the field, court, track or course and was a model student in the classroom.

To be selected to the Academic All-State team student-athletes have to maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA. Seems easy to do, just show up pay attention, study hard and pass the class but it’s not so quite so simple.

In addition to being students these kids are also athletes, they have to practice, workout and compete in games fairly regularly and that can wear anyone out. Not to mention any other work outs these kids are doing away from school and sometimes they are playing multiple sports at one time.

To meet all the demands that come with being an athlete while maintaining a 3.5 or higher GPA is impressive and should be celebrated. The list of the Weimar Golfers that were selected to the Academic All-State team were Taylor Smith, Camden Morrison and Huxton Kloesel.

Fans of Weimar Athletics already know this but all three of these kids are multi-sport athletes. In addition to golf Smith is also a big part of Weimar’s softball and volleyball team. Morrison and Kloesel play both football, basketball and baseball in addition to golf.

So, all three of these kids juggled multiple sports and their schoolwork and it paid off for them because they were recognized by the Texas High School Coaches Association for all their hard work.
