The Weimar Ladycats basketball team was selected by Coaches Corner as one of the top 20 teams in the State of Texas for Class 2A.
Coaches Corner is a team of people who have a passion for highlighting and spotlighting Texas coaches, athletes and communities.
They got together and ranked the top 20 basketball teams of the decade, and they ranked each team based off a point system. One point for a Regional Finals appearance, two points for a State Semi-Final appearance, three points for a State Championship game appearance and five points for a State Championship win.
Based on this point system the Ladycats actually found themselves ranked in the top 10. The Ladycats racked up 14 points and slotted into 6th place and were only two points behind 5th place.
This is a big honor and recognition because it has nothing to do with a panel of people voting on if this team is able to be ranked on this list. They actually took the time to look at everything the Weimar Ladycats as well as the other 2A schools and give them the credit and spotlight for everything they have accomplished over the last 10 years.
Congratulations to the Ladycats for achieving this honor because they put the time and work in to earn it.
