Ducks, ducks and more ducks—3,000 to be exact—are ready for the Columbus Duck Derby on Saturday May 17, at 11 a.m. Witness the quacktastic event when these ducks are released from the East River Bridge near Beason’s Crossing! The “drop” creates an amazing, moving curtain of bright yellow. The Columbus Education Foundation (CEF) will release these numbered rubber duckies to float in a section of the Colorado River. Three lucky winners receive $1,000, $500 or $250. Money raised from the sale of ducks and sponsorships create a brighter future for CISD students through scholarships and classroom grants for special projects. Pictured are Becca Edmiston, Linda Bailey, Patsy Hodge, Tandy & Gina Carter getting all their ducks in a row for release. Check out the website ColumbusEducationFoundation.org to buy your duck--or even a “Quack Pack!” This event is held in conjunction with the Magnolia Days Festival.
